During the Tramontana III project, new research paths were opened by LEM-Italia in the eastern area of the Maiella Massif, located in the Abruzzo region, namely in the municipality of Pretoro, a village in the province of Chieti, known in the region for its carpentering crafts. Here a dozen interviews were carried out related to local memory concerning the war (in particular the Second World War and the moment of the Allies’ ascent towards the North of the Italian peninsula to liberate Italy) and the rituals which bind the communities with wolf and snakes, rituals framed in devotion to Saint Dominic. A documentary film (“La memoria di Pretoro. Natura, fede, cultura”) was made from these interviews, which was screened in Pretoro on May 4, 2019, on the occasion of the local celebration in honor of Saint Emidio and of Saint Dominic the Abbot.
