This is an initiative of La Leggera, Bambun and LEM Italia as part of the Creative Europe Tramontana IV project.
The Italian edition of the Tramontana Festival runs from 24 October to 7 November 2026 in Abruzzo and Tuscany. It is the result of a collaboration between the three Italian partner associations of the Tramontana Network: La Leggera APS (Tuscany), Bambun APS and LEM Italia (Abruzzo).
The festival opens in Tuscany with a two-day event on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, entitled «SOGLIE» (Thresholds). Its main theme is the physical and imaginary passage between wild and domestic space: not a border but a continuum between the two spaces and the two attitudes, in a dynamic relationship. The threshold can be a line to cross or a world to live in.
On the afternoon of Saturday 24 October, with music by the «Suonatori della Leggera», the festival celebrates the reopening of the Ponte Mediceo, a 16th-century bridge over the Sieve river in Pontassieve, after a long closure for restoration works. The event, which will include other artistic contributions, is entitled «Ponte libera tutti!». In the evening, the Circolo Culturale Contadino di Colognole (Pontassieve) hosts a vigil of song and dance dedicated to the culture of oral tradition, with musicians from Tuscany and Abruzzo.
On the morning of Sunday 25 October, also at the Circolo di Colognole, an anthropological meeting brings together three talks:
«Semi-free animals and breeders: an open-air relationship», by Marco Magistrali (La Leggera APS);
«The threshold of the wild: Apennine breeders and shepherds in the “contact zones”», by Gianfranco Spitilli (University of Teramo and Bambun APS);
«Working on the border between the wild and the domestic: shared ecologies between humans, mules and beech forests», by Emanuele Di Paolo (Bambun APS).
