On September 20, 2024, join us for an insightful presentation at the MAV2024 Conference—a retrospective of documentaries and visual materials dedicated to the memory of ethnomusicologist Diego Carpitella. This biennial event, held at La Sapienza University in Rome, brings together experts from across disciplines to explore culture, history, and the power of visual storytelling.

The featured documentary, ‘Legando. In silenzio con Angelo De Domincis’, tells the touching story of an elderly farmer’s connection to his vegetable garden, the surrounding mountain environment, and the rhythms of nature as he navigates the aging process. Angelo demonstrates an ancient tying technique, passed down through generations, which is both ecologically sustainable and essential for plant growth.

The presentation and screening session will be coordinated by Antonello Ricci, anthropologist at La Sapienza University, with Gianfranco Spitilli, the documentary’s creator, also in attendance. The session will be preceded by the screening of three videos from the Digital Itineraries project, produced by Bambun APS for the ICCD – Central Institute for Catalogue and Documentation, edited by Fabrizio Magnani, and featuring contributions from Emanuele Di Paolo and Gianfranco Spitilli as the filmmakers.
