LABORATORI PER BAMBINI E RAGAZZI
Weekly workshop on traditional peasant music
Centro Infanzia Famiglia Rufina
Rufina (Italy)
October 2025 until May 2026
An initiative by La leggera as part of the Creative Europe Tramontana IV project.
From October 2025 to May 2026, La Leggera will host a weekly introductory workshop dedicated to traditional peasant music, designed especially for children and young people who wish to explore the rich soundscapes of rural culture.
The workshops will be led by musician and educator Marco Magistrali, who will guide participants through the listening method, an approach that emphasizes attentive, active listening as the foundation for musical understanding and collective performance.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn and play a variety of instruments commonly found in traditional folk ensembles, including guitar, mandolin, accordion, keyboards, percussion, and brass instruments.
All musical material used in the workshops is drawn from LASCITO – the Light Social Archives of Intangible Culture in Eastern Tuscany, a living repository that preserves songs, melodies, and oral traditions passed down through generations.
Through this initiative, La Leggera and the Tramontana IV project aim to revive and share the musical heritage of rural communities, fostering intergenerational dialogue and nurturing a sense of cultural continuity among younger generations.
