TRAMONTANA FESTIVAL
30 August 2025
Dom Pracy Twórczej Muchomorek
Kamionki, Owl Mountains (Poland).

A co-production by Akademia Profil, in the context of Tramontana Network, a Creative Europe funded-project.

The first Tramontana Festival is due to happen on 30 August 2025, in Dom Pracy Twórczej Muchomorek, Kamionki which will transform into a vibrant centre of art, inspiration, and stories from the furthest corners of the world.

Tramontana Festival is an event combining artistic activities, encounters with travellers, and reflections on our place in the world. The aim of the festival is to build bridges between the local community and global culture – through art, travel, and personal experiences.

The programme includes two creative workshops for children and young people – Painting the Underwater World and the Water World Collages. These sessions will allow participants to explore, in imaginative ways, the theme of nature and water as a source of life and inspiration. Another highlight of the day will be a meeting to conclude the project The World in Your Hands, involving children from Kamionki, Pieszyce, and Rościszów, who will share their work and experiences of discovering the world through young eyes.

The festival will also feature inspiring encounters with travellers and artists.

Marcin Kuś will recount his extraordinary walking pilgrimage along the Ohenro trail in Japan, covering 1,200 kilometres in 46 days. During the journey he met an elderly Japanese man – an encounter that became a turning point in his life. At the festival, Marcin will share this remarkable story.

Rafał ‘Kmicic’ Kucharski will take participants on a journey to Iran – a country of contrasts, hospitality, and fascinating culture. Travelling across Persian cities and deserts, he experienced not only breathtaking landscapes but also the everyday lives of the inhabitants, who welcomed him into their traditions, homes, and hearts.

The programme also includes a meeting with artists-in-residence from Poland and the Czech Republic, who, during their creative stay at Muchomorek, are realising art projects inspired by the natural environment and local history of the Owl Mountains. In addition, participants will be invited to a screening of a documentary about pastoralism in the mountains of Europe – a story of people living close to nature, in tune with timeless traditions. This screening will include recordings from all Tramontana Network’s partners: Binaural Nodar (Portugal), Audiolab (Basque Country, Spain), Eth Ostau Comengés, Ràdio País & Numériculture Gascogne (Pyrenees, France), LEM-Italia, Bambun & La Leggera (Italy), GO2 Albania (Albania), ORMA (Romania) and Akademia Profil (Poland).
