THE ART OF THE CARAMULAN ENCOUNTER
Artist residency
7–10 May 2026
Lafões Cult Lab (Vouzela, Portugal)

The 15th edition of the artist residency, co-organised by the Master’s in Contemporary Artistic Creation at the University of Aveiro and Binaural Nodar, will take place in the village of Vouzela. Around ten students will be in attendance to develop artistic work in connection with the landscape and architectural context of the locality. As in previous years, Binaural Nodar will run a soundscape workshop using a variety of microphones, enabling some students to incorporate sound elements into their works. The coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luís Costa, will also give a talk entitled “What can rural places say to each other?”, in the context of his research for the Doctoral Programme in Artistic Creation at the University of Aveiro.

The artist residency forms part of the activities of the Tramontana Network, a project co-funded by the Creative Europe programme and which focuses on artistic and archival practices in rural mountain contexts in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Romania, Albania and Poland.
