A technical workshop “Rural Memories: Collecting, Archiving and Sharing” will be held on April 4th, 2019 at the Municipal Library of Castro Daire (Portugal). This workshop is organized following the launch of the “Memória sobre Rodas” (“Memory on Wheels”) project in the municipality of Castro Daire and aims to share concepts, workflows and techniques that could allow a solid learning for systematic work in the field of ethnographic research, archiving processes and typologies of sharing initiatives towards various audiences.

The workshop is run by Binaural Nodar, a cultural organization of Viseu Dão Lafões region in centre Portugal that has been dedicated to sound and multimedia ethnographic research, contemporary artistic creation and heritage education.

The various modules of “Rural Memories: Collecting, Archiving and Sharing” workshop will be coordinated by Luis Gomes da Costa, Binaural/Nodar’s coordinator, Liliana Silva, multimedia and communication technician at Binaural/Nodar and Ana Rodríguez, an Uruguayan anthropologist who is also coordinator of Mapa Sonoro de Uruguay (“Sound Map of Uruguay”), which has an active partnership with Binaural/Nodar for the development of projects between rural communities on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
