BRBA #4 – The Private

‘The Private’ was created from an exercise that I developed in 2025. The exercise involved recording at least one minute of audio using my mobile phone every day, wherever I was at 12:00.

Aizpea de Atxa (Iruñea, 1998) is an artist. She studied art at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), completed a postgraduate degree in film creation at the Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (EH) and a master’s degree in contemporary technological and performative art at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She is currently conducting research in the field of audiovisual arts at the same university. She was the co-coordinator of the 11th edition of Ilegal Cinema at Bulegoa z/b with Akane Saraiva. In 2019, she received the Eusko Ikaskuntza–Laboral Kutxa Youth Award, and in 2023 she contributed to the ‘Memoria de los Encuentros 72-22’ of the Encuentros de Pamplona 72-22.

Her work has been exhibited at: Okela Sormen Lantegia (Khora, 2025), Baluarte (SunSunSun, 2023), Uholdeak (2022, 2023), and the Museum of Navarre.

She creates situations in which the vulnerability of bodies is revealed through confrontation. Using the minimum, she pays attention to subtleties in order to create sensitive spaces for contemplation.

Private artistic residencies are linked to the Audiolab sound archive, with collaboration and sponsorship from the Tramontana Network (Creative Europe) and the Oreka grants (Gipuzkoa Provincial Council).
