A season of traditional singing with the Colognole spontaneous singing group

COLOGNOLE SPONTANEOUS SINGING GROUP
Fortnightly workshop

Circolo Culturale Contadino di Colognole
Pontassieve (Florence)
Italy
October 3rd, 2025 to May 29th, 2026

This is an initiative of La Leggera as part of the “Creative Europe Tramontana IV” project.

From October 2025 to May 2026, every other Friday, La Leggera held a workshop dedicated to the repertoires and styles of traditional peasant and mountain singing. Open to everyone, it offered individual and choral singing sessions led by Marco Magistrali and Filippo Marranci, who guided the participants through the “by ear” method, a way of learning rooted in listening, imitation and shared experience. The aim was to transmit and share the oral knowledge at the basis of the traditional singing heritage of eastern Tuscany. All the study materials came from the field research carried out by La Leggera and its research and archive centre, LASCITO (Social Archives of the Intangible Culture of Eastern Tuscany).
