PAUSOTU
Sound walk and concert in motion

8th Culture and Ruralities Forum
Estella-Lizarra (Navarre)

June 10th–12th, 2025

This is an initiative of Audiolab as part of the “Creative Europe Tramontana IV” project.

Pausotu is a play on words in Basque between pausatu (to pause) and pauso (step): to pause, to take a step, to make a path. Commissioned by Clara Garí for the 8th Culture and Ruralities Forum, held in Estella in June 2025, this sound walk was devised for the moment of dawn, beginning before daybreak and ending with sunrise. It rethought the path as a mobile auditorium, without a stage, without a predefined perspective, and transforming with every step.

Whereas participants in a sound walk are usually invited to listen, on this occasion they also became bearers of sound, messengers of a reciprocal listening between the sleeping landscape and bodies still numb from sleep. A concert in motion, and a movement that becomes a concert.
