Produced by Binaural Nodar, in collaboration with Futsal Clube de Lamego, and part of the European project Tramontana Network, co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme.
Building on a project developed in 2025, Nely Ferreira created a new edition of the artistic work “Training is a game, a game is emotion” between April and May 2026, centred on the world of futsal and produced by Binaural Nodar.
Starting with a youth team of boys (in 2025 the project had focused on a senior women’s team), this project centred on the process of identity formation at a crucial stage of personal development, exploring the moment when futsal ceases to be merely a game and begins to play a significant role in the athletes’ development.
As with the previous edition, the project included photographs and audio recordings from training sessions and matches, as well as interviews with players and the coaching staff, seeking to understand how they experience training, what emotions they associate with the game, and what meaning they attach to victory, defeat and their dreams within the sport. The project also explored the parents’ perspective, including their own relationship with sport in their youth and the emotions they experience whilst supporting their children.
In terms of outcomes, the project resulted in a photographic exhibition and an audio archive of interviews with the players and their families.
Nely Ferreira and Binaural Nodar would like to thank the management of Futsal Clube de Lamego for their willingness to host this artistic project.
