Join us for the screening of the documentary The Balance of the Madman. Vines and Wine in Valdisieve (Italy, 2014 – 52 minutes), directed by Marco Magistrali and Filippo Marranci. The film offers a choral narrative and a journey that begins in the soil and returns through the cultivation of vines and wine in a valley of the Tuscan Apennines. Thoughts, gestures, and sounds intertwine in a constant search for balance.
“Matto” is the name of the traditional Rufina cart used to transport wine, so called because—loaded with more than a thousand bottles—it advances with a “dancing” motion, defying gravity. Filmed in the historic wine-growing area now known as Chianti Rufina, the documentary was produced by the association La Leggera within the European project Réseau Tramontana.
