FOCUSING ON WATER
Artist Residency
Dom Pracy Twórczej Muchomorek, The Owl Mountains
Kamionki (Poland)
August 25th until September 9th, 2025
An initiative by Akademia Profil as part of the Creative Europe Tramontana IV project.
This artist residency continued the series in the Central Sudetes, focusing on water as a central theme. The program explored the environmental, cultural, and symbolic dimensions of water, encouraging artists to engage with its significance within the landscape, ecology, and traditions of the Owl Mountains region.
The six participants from the Czech Republic and Poland were: Barbora Fastrová (CZ), Agata Jarosławiec (PL), Jitka Králová (CZ), Grzegorz Kumorek (PL), Zofia Reznik (PL), and Zlata Ziborová (CZ). Through their artwork, the participants reflected on water as a source of life, inspiration, and challenge. They addressed themes of sustainability, water management, and the impact of water on human and natural environments.
The project addressed two issues: the absence of water-related themes in regional environmental art and the scarcity of artistic exchange between Poland and the Czech Republic. The residency fostered dialogue, collaboration, and a shared exploration of environmental concerns by ensuring a balanced national composition, thereby strengthening artistic and cultural ties.
These activities aimed to raise ecological awareness and inspire creative thinking about local water resources. The artists lived and worked in the Central Sudetes, drawing inspiration from its rivers, lakes, and water heritage. Through community engagement and site-specific projects, the artists contributed to a broader artistic dialogue on the role of water in contemporary environmental discourse. They left a lasting impact on the region and its communities.
The project was co-organized by Fundacja Inicjatyw Kulturalnych Potok (PL), Akademia Profil (PL), and Vzdělávací a kulturní centrum Broumov (CZ). It was supported by the Visegrad Fund.
