Description:
A collective sound composition created in the context of the “Sounds of Senales Valley” masterclass that took place in the Italian Autonomous Province of Bolzano between August 31st and September 4th, 2024 and that was directed by Binaural Nodar’s coordinator, Luis Costa, with assistance by Bambun’s coordinator, Gianfranco Spitilli. This masterclass was part of the activities of Tramontana Network, a project co-funded by Creative Europe programme.
The sound composition was conceived as an imaginary history of the settlement of the Senales valley, from landscape with no human presence, to the establishment of a Carthusian Monastery where church bells, silence and prayers might have been key aspects of its soundscape, and then to the agriculture and cattle raising that slowly occupied the hills surrounding the monastery, to finish with the modern day mix of voices, manual and motorized activities.
All sounds were recorded and composed by:
Daniela Brugger, Francesca Corradini, Gianfranco Spitilli, Giorgio Perini, Greta F. Franco, Luis Costa, Maria van Eijk, Matilde Ramini, Matteo Ferrari, Patrizia Pfeifer, Tommaso Barbieri and Valerio Latino.
