Book Launch of “Lettere dalla pastorizia. Scritture di pastori transumanti di Fano Adriano”

Join us on September 14, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM for the highly anticipated launch of the book “Lettere dalla pastorizia. Scritture di pastori transumanti di Fano Adriano”, by Berardino Nisii, Gianfranco Spitilli, and Roberta Tucci, published by Bambun/Centro Studi Don Nicola Jobbi.

The event will be held in Fano Adriano, bringing together approximately 100 people from the local community, as well as visitors from surrounding mountain villages and towns in the valley. The evening will conclude with a buffet, offered to all participants in tribute to the local community.

This book is the result of years of research initiated during previous Tramontana cycles, aimed at exploring the letters written by transhumant shepherds to their families during their long absences from home throughout the autumn, winter, and spring months (from September to June). In addition to these letters, the book features family photographs and film footage shot inside the “armentaria” farm in the Roman countryside, where shepherds and their flocks relocated at the end of summer.

Local authorities will also be in attendance, including Luigi Servi, the Mayor of Fano Adriano, Carlo Di Bonaventura, municipal councillor, Rosa Di Benedetto, literary critic and author, Francesco Avolio, Professor of Linguistics at the University of L’Aquila, Dimitri Bosi, Director of the Teramo Regional Library ‘Melchiorre Dèlfico’, and the family of Leonardo Riccioni.
